Learn about Food System Planning with San Juan County’s Food System Team
We invite you to learn about “Setting the Table for an Abundant Future: A Food System Plan for San Juan County”. Food System Team members Caitlin Leck, Learner Limbach, & Maggi Adamek will describe the process of creating the plan, and some of the findings, as well as hosting a brief Q&A on the topic.
Caitlin Leck is the Coordinator for the Food System Team of San Juan County, and has helped guide the Orcas Community Participatory Agriculture program as an anchor farmer since its inception in 2014. Caitlin also serves on the SJC Agricultural Resources Committee, San Juan Islands Agricultural Summit steering committee, and the Orcas Food Co-op board.
Learner Limbach is the General Manager of Orcas Food Co-op, a role held since the co-op was established in 2013. A 22-year resident of Orcas Island, Learner has been active in community organizing and food system-related activities for most of that time and is a member of the San Juan County Food System Team.
Margaret (Maggi) Adamek is the CEO of Terra Soma, LLC, a certified woman/Lummi Nation-owned strategic services firm that focuses on community well-being. Maggi’s expertise focuses on the intersection of food, health, and agriculture, in service to the development of just and resilient food systems at all scales. She is a Blue Zones National Food Policy Expert and has produced dozens of food systems plans in her work with communities across Washington, nationally, and in Canada.
