Meat Production and Processing in Central and South Puget Sound
Join us to learn about Meat Processing with Pierce County. Pierce and Thurston Counties recently collaborated on a regional study to better understand the demand and availability of livestock slaughter and processing services. The work focused on extensive farmer and processor outreach via surveys, focus groups, and telephone interviews. Mike Poteet will share the results of this work with participants.
Mike Poteet is the Senior Agricultural Planner for Pierce County. He supports farms and rural landowners in Pierce County in matters related to permitting, policy development and interpretation, drainage and resource utilization, marketing, and conservation projects.
Mike has worked in many capacities in the agriculture sector over the past 25 years, including as a farm laborer, producer, researcher, and consultant.
